Launch: Corruption Perception in the north of Cyprus

On June the 24th, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) launched the English version of the 2018 FES report "Corruption Perception in the north of Cyprus" by Ömer Gökçekuş and Sertaç Sonan at the Home for Cooperation in Nicosia.

The project aimed to open a debate on corruption in the northern part of Cyprus, based on new scientific findings. The 2018 report is based on a telephone survey conducted by LIPA Consulting with 373 company executives as well as on a workshop with a group of experts.

The world's best-known reference source on corruption is the Corruption Perception Index, which is published annually by Transparency International in Berlin. The northern part of Cyprus is not included in this index; therefore, no data on corruption are available for the community in the north of the island. This project aims to establish a reference source for the perception of corruption in the northern part of Cyprus.
