The best-known reference source about corruption worldwide is the Corruption Perception Index, which is annually published by Berlin-based Transparency International. The northern part of Cyprus is not covered in this index; therefore, there is no data available regarding corruption in this entity. This project aims to build a reference source for the corruption perception in the northern part of Cyprus.

Since European Union standards are the benchmark for the judgement of the situation in the north, the “Corruption Perception Index for the northern part of Cyprus” - carried out by civil society actors - is an analysis of the level of corruption in the north with the intention to contribute to the ongoing debate on the adverse effects on corruption and the need for good governance in the northern part of Cyprus, which dominated the general election campaign. In doing so, it will touch upon one of the pillars of FES promoting good governance through policy recommendations.
