Reflecting on the Cyprus Trade Union Monitor 2022: Advocating for Workers' Rights

As we look back on the Cyprus Trade Union Monitor 2022 presentation, which took place on September 11, 2023, we are excited to share insights from this annual publication. It sheds light on the evolution, achievements, and challenges faced by trade unions in Cyprus, with a strong emphasis on demands for fair wages, stable employment, and the protection of workers' rights, all within the context of economic instability and political uncertainty.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed speakers, Associate Professor Dr. Sertac Sonan and Sociologist Gianna Chatzigeorgiou, who provided invaluable insights during the event. Their expertise offered a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities confronting workers in Cyprus.

Additionally, we wish to express our special appreciation to the dedicated union representatives who have tirelessly advocated for workers' rights. Sotiroula Charalambous (PEO Secretary General), Andreas Matsas (SEK Secretary General), Koral Asam (Dev-Is President), and Arslan Bicakli (Turk-Sen President) have been instrumental in the ongoing efforts to secure fair treatment and employment stability for workers in Cyprus.

For those who missed the event or want to explore the full report to gain a comprehensive understanding of the state of trade unions in Cyprus, you can access the complete document here.

In a world where the importance of workers' rights and fair labor practices is more crucial than ever, the Cyprus Trade Union Monitor continues to serve as a beacon, guiding us towards a future where these fundamental principles are upheld and protected for all workers. We thank you for your continued interest and support in our mission. #WorkersRights #TradeUnions #CyprusTradeUnionMonitor

‘Grab a Cypriot Coffee’ with Corina Drousiotou on 'Violence Against Migrants in Cyprus'

In our recent online briefing "Violence Against Migrants in Cyprus," more than 35 passionate individuals came together to listen to Corina Drousiotou. The event provided a platform for an open and thought-provoking discussion about the local backgrounds and historical factors contributing to the increasing significance of violence against migrants in Cyprus.

We look forward to future events that continue to explore such critical issues and promote open dialogue and awareness in our community.
