Six Facts. One Future: The Eastern Mediterranean

In this first webinar of the series, we discussed the role of water scarcity in shaping conflict, stability, and migration dynamics across the Eastern Mediterranean with Dr. Fadi Comair.

In the first webinar of the series, we focused on water.

Part I – Water: When systems fail, people move. Water is no longer simply an environmental risk; it has become a driver of instability.

Across the Eastern Mediterranean, growing pressure on water resources has intensified competition, exacerbated conflict, and accelerated displacement and migration. Policy makers and political leaders can no longer afford to delay decisions on this critical resource.

Dr. Fadi Comair discussed the choices facing politicians and policy makers in addressing chronic water scarcity that is fueling conflict risks and migration, and explored how water resilience can become a strategic priority.

The discussion took place on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 4–5 pm (Nicosia time) and 3–4 pm (Berlin time).
