Trade unions in Cyprus play a central role in business relations, particularly through collective agreements that set employment standards, although these agreements are not legally binding on employers. Today, unions face challenges such as rising inflation, precarious employment conditions, and regulation of the platform economy. They are actively advocating for fair wages and better working conditions, particularly through social dialogue with the government and employers.
As the direct representative of the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) abroad, FES Cyprus is committed to developing innovative solutions through in-depth analysis, policy proposals and dialogue formats. The Foundation facilitates exchanges between trade unions, policymakers and experts to strengthen workers' rights and address emerging challenges.
