After the launch of the website "The Religious Heritage of Cyprus", now comes a publication dealing specifically with the religious heritage in Nicosia and its surroundings . For this occasion we are hosting this launch event.
The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Cyprus in cooperation with the Office of the Religious Track of the Cyprus Peace Process under the Auspices of the Embassy of Sweden will host the Launch of the Publication and Presentation ofThe Religious Heritage of Cyprus in the City of Nicosia and its SuburbsLocation : Chateau Status, Markou Drakou 12, Nicosia Wednesday, 6 October 2021, 18:00-20:30 The event is open for everyone with a valid SafePass. The long-standing Cyprus conflict has been intensively investigated in the fields of historical and political sciences. Nevertheless, the socio-political treatment of the Christian and Muslim religious heritage of Cyprus and its impact following the intercommunal strife and the division of the island, continues to represent a scientific gap. The event is dedicated to the religious heritage of Nicosia and its suburbs, more specifically the abandoned or converted religious sites in the divided capital of Cyprus. In addition to Christian and Muslim places of worship, the publication also includes the cemeteries of the two faith communities, as well as other faith-related places, such as places for votive offerings. The project on Nicosia is part of a larger ongoing endeavour by the Office of RTCYPP to create an interactive website for all religious sites in Cyprus, launched on 2nd August 2021.
