"Grab a UNIC Coffee" Online Briefing | Bumps and Barriers - The long and winding road to peace in Sudan

The Department of Politics and Governance of the University of Nicosia and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Cyprus Office hosted the event “Grab a UNIC Coffee” – Bumps and Barriers: The Long and Winding Road to Peace in Sudan with Speaker Achim Vogt, head of FES Office in Uganda and of the FES Project in Sudan.

 

The Department of Politics and Governance of the University of Nicosia and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Cyprus Office hosted the event “Grab a UNIC Coffee” – Bumps and Barriers: The Long and Winding Road to Peace in Sudan with Speaker Achim Vogt, head of FES office in Uganda and of the FES project in Sudan. 

During the discussion, participants explored the devastating situation in Sudan, which has developed into the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. Speakers examined how the warring parties continue to target the civilian population, often with the backing of various regional actors. The event addressed the complex challenges facing peace efforts, assessed the prospects for a lasting resolution to the conflict, and considered the potential risks for the wider region.
