Screening: Once in a Lifetime

In the context of the European elections and at a critical time when Europe could be plunged into a crisis of legitimacy, the film screening aimed to explore Europe through its integration experiment, the Erasmus Mobility Measure. 

The movie captures the journey of five young Europeans who come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds across and who study, work or volunteer in different European countries. It is through their point of view and experience at home and abroad for the first time, that we witness some of Europe's troubles today: youth unemployment, the refugee crisis, racism and the rise of the extreme right. 

In parallel, the first Erasmus students from 1987 describe how Europe has evolved in the last 30 years. The film offers a bird's eye view of a continent in transition and helps to explain Europe on a human scale. 

The film screening, which took place simultaneously at 30 locations throughout Europe, was followed by a debate with Andreas Savvides, Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture of the University of Cyprus and Dr. Constantinos Adamides, Assistant Professor at the Department of Politics and Governance of the University of Nicosia.
