The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and Invest in Education invite you to the book launch “Education in a Multicultural Cyprus” the book aims to explore various aspects of the education system in Cyprus as well as future perspectives.
In a modern, secular and European state, in a country situated at the centre of cultural diversity, historically inhabited by orthodox Christians, Muslims, Maronites, Armenians and Latins, among others, and with more than 20% of its current population hailing from European and other third countries, one might expect Cyprus’s educational system to reflect this background. But does this hold true?
Education in a Multicultural Cyprus explores theoretical and practical principles regarding formal, non-formal and informal education in divided societies, with a special focus on Cyprus. The book contributes to discussions about the current Cypriot educational systems, the status of history education in Cyprus, and the possibility of future coexistence between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities.
Among the speakers will be Daniel Bar-Tal: Professor Emeritus-School of Education of Tel Aviv University
The event will include a panel discussion with the two co-presidents of the bicommunal Technical Committee on Education and the leaders of the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot Teacher Unions
