Panel discussion: 'Unlocking the Potential of Regional Organisations in the Mediterranean for Peace and Stability'

Review of our panel discussion on 3 October 2025, held as part of this year’s Cyprus Forum.

On 3 October 2025, together with our partner organisation Diplomeds – The Council for Mediterranean Diplomacy, we co-hosted the panel discussion 'Unlocking the Potential of Regional Organisations in the Mediterranean for Peace and Stability'.

The event was held at the Ledra Palace Hotel as part of this year’s Cyprus Forum. You can watch the replay here: https://lnkd.in/d44EfbzU(starts at 01:53:00).

Our discussion explored how regional organisations can play a stronger role in advancing peace, dialogue, and cooperation across the Mediterranean.

Speakers underscored the importance of civil society, youth engagement, and intercultural exchange, while calling for deeper collaboration, both horizontally among states and vertically with local actors.

They also highlighted the urgent need to adapt and empower regional institutions, such as the Union for the Mediterranean and the Anna Lindh Foundation, to meet evolving challenges around climate change, energy, and migration.

The key takeaway: Only through coordinated regional action and sustained investment in dialogue and peace can the Mediterranean truly realise its potential as a region of cooperation and shared prosperity.

Many thanks to all our panelists and moderators for their insightful contributions and commitment to dialogue, and to the Cyprus Forum and our audience for their valuable engagement.
