On the 16th and the 17th of November the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung organized together with Enorasis, a bi-communal initiative, the 15th annual Enorasis Friendship Weekend which took place in the Troodos Mountains.
The aim of this weekend was to bring Greek and Turkish Cypriots in contact and open prospects for a better understanding of one anotherand for a common future.
In a three-hour workshop the potential of education to support efforts to overcome the division of the island was discussed. Guest speakers from both communities presented educational initiatives working for a peaceful coexistence on Cyprus. After the presentations, the participants had the opportunity to ask questions and express their fears and political demands.
In addition to the event, cultural activities were proposed, including a visit of the traditional village of Platres and the screening of a bi-communal film.
