The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, the Austrian Embassy, and the CVAR invite you to the book presentation and opening of “green line _ evocative of an archeology of desperation and desire”, an exhibition of photography by Cornelia Mittendorfer.
Ever since the Turkish intervention 1974, the Greenline is dividing Cyprus as a bufferzone: this also includes Nicosia as the islands capital. Until today many people are traumatized by the violence of the past. Taking Cyprus as an example, the book green line is analyzing the complexity of violent conflicts today which remain being unsolved. The focus is set on changing spaces and their reuse and secularization throughout the occupation in the north. The work tries – as a contribution to a constructive dialogue and view on conflict resolution – to be empathic as well as unbiased on all parts of the island.
The exhibition can be seen in the CVAR (285 Ermou Street, Nicosia 1017) from 12 - 24 September 2017, Monday-Thursday & Saturday: 10:00-18:00, Friday: 10:00-20:00.
