Launch of the Publication and Presentation of
The Religious Heritage of Cyprus in the City of Nicosia and its Suburbs

The long-standing Cyprus conflict has been intensively investigated in the fields of historical and political sciences. Nevertheless, the socio-political treatment of the Christian and Muslim religious heritage of Cyprus and its impact following the intercommunal strife and the division of the island, continues to represent a scientific gap.
The event is dedicated to the religious heritage of Nicosia and its suburbs, more specifically the abandoned or converted religious sites in the divided capital of Cyprus.  In addition to Christian and Muslim places of worship, the publication also includes the cemeteries of the two faith communities, as well as other faith-related places, such as places for votive offerings.  The project on Nicosia is part of a larger ongoing endeavour by the Office of RTCYPP to create an interactive website for all religious sites in Cyprus, launched on 2nd August 2021.
